The HP Pavilion Plus 14 brings a 2.8K OLED panel with full DCI-P3 coverage to a mid-range price, which is unusual and genuinely useful for photo work. The trade-off is battery life: a 51 Wh cell driving an OLED panel will not last a full working day.

Product overview
OLED at this price is the reason to look at this machine. Per-pixel illumination gives true blacks and full DCI-P3 coverage, which matters for photo editing and is simply pleasant everywhere else. The 2880x1800 resolution on a 14-inch panel is sharp enough that individual pixels are invisible. The i5-13500H sustains around 45 W, well ahead of ultraportable chips. The cost is a 51 Wh battery driving a power-hungry OLED panel, so all-day battery life is not realistic.

Does the one thing I bought it for
2.8K OLED with true blacks and full DCI-P3. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: 400 nits, brighter than most panels at this price. Nothing has surprised me in a couple of weeks.

My mistake, but read the avoid note
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Anyone needing all-day unplugged battery life, or who displays static interfaces for long periods where OLED burn-in is a consideration. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Three stars, and here is exactly why
Leading with the problem, because it is what I would have wanted to read: 51 Wh battery is small for an OLED panel. OLED burn-in risk with static interfaces. Neither is hidden — both are listed on the page — but they matter more in daily use than they look on a spec sheet. I have kept it, for one reason: 2.8K OLED with true blacks and full DCI-P3. That still outweighs the rest, but only just.

Posting after real use, not unboxing
Had this about a month now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. 400 nits, brighter than most panels at this price. Still mildly irritated by one thing: 51 Wh battery is small for an OLED panel. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.

Read the fit note, and it was me
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Photo editors and anyone who values display quality, working mostly within reach of a power outlet. On that basis it has been the right call. 2.8K OLED with true blacks and full DCI-P3.
