Direct answer: is the Faber 60cm 1200 m3/hr Auto-Clean Chimney (Hood Orient 3D) right for you?
The sizing rule nobody explains at the showroom is that suction should be roughly ten times your kitchen's volume per hour -- 1200 suits a kitchen of about 20 cubic metres, and buying more than you need only adds noise.

Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: The sizing rule nobody explains at the showroom is that suction should be roughly ten times your kitchen's volume per hour -- 1200 suits a kitchen of about 20 cubic metres, and buying more than you need only adds noise. The other detail that decides whether it works is ducting: every bend and every extra metre costs real suction, so a well-installed 1000 beats a badly ducted 1400.
Who should buy this
Anyone with a kitchen around 20 cubic metres who can duct to an external wall.
Who should avoid this
Anyone who cannot duct outside -- recirculating a chimney through a carbon filter removes very little Indian cooking smoke.

No notes
Baffle filters separate oil by airflow direction rather than clogging like mesh. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: Auto-clean liquefies trapped oil into a collection bowl at one press. Been using it now for a couple of weeks.

My mistake, but read the avoid note
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Anyone who cannot duct outside — recirculating a chimney through a carbon filter removes very little Indian cooking smoke. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Happy with it, but go in informed
Baffle filters separate oil by airflow direction rather than clogging like mesh. The one thing to know before ordering: About 58 dB at full speed, which is loud enough to interrupt conversation. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.
