Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: ISEER 4.7 and 840 kWh a year are the two figures worth carrying into a showroom, because the star rating alone is a band that has been rebased twice -- a 2016 five star is roughly a 2023 three star. Against a current 3 star unit this saves about Rs4,000 a year, which means the price premium returns in roughly two years and everything after that is money kept.
Who should buy this
Anyone running an air conditioner more than about 1000 hours a year, where the efficiency premium pays back quickly.

Fine, once I adjusted my expectations
Leading with the problem, because it is what I would have wanted to read: Higher purchase price, with a payback of about two years. Inverter electronics are more expensive to repair out of warranty. Neither is hidden — both are listed on the page — but they matter more in daily use than they look on a spec sheet. I have kept it, for one reason: ISEER 4.7 with 840 kWh a year declared, roughly Rs4,000 a year less than a 3 star. That still outweighs the rest, but only just.

Does the one thing I bought it for
ISEER 4.7 with 840 kWh a year declared, roughly Rs4,000 a year less than a 3 star. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: R32 refrigerant, lower global warming potential than R410A. No regrets after a full season.

After a few months
Had this most of a year now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. R32 refrigerant, lower global warming potential than R410A. Still mildly irritated by one thing: Higher purchase price, with a payback of about two years. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.

- What a geyser actually costs to run per month in IndiaA 25-litre storage geyser costs roughly Rs530 a month for a family of four. Around Rs145 of that is standing loss — energy spent keeping stored water hot while nobody uses it — which is the figure no listing publishes and the one you can eliminate.Covers this department7 min read
