Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: Gel ink is darker and flows more freely than ballpoint, and the cost of that is drying time -- roughly two to three seconds, which is enough for a left-handed writer dragging their hand across the line to smudge every word. Being refillable is the underrated part: a refill costs about a third of a new pen, so the barrel should outlast many cartridges.

Wrong product for my situation
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Left-handed writers, who will smudge, and anyone writing on glossy or recycled paper. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Right product for the right person
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Right-handed writers who want darker, smoother lines than a ballpoint gives. On that basis it has been the right call. Refillable, so the barrel is not disposable.

After a few months
Had this a couple of weeks now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. Gel ink is noticeably darker than ballpoint. Still mildly irritated by one thing: 2 to 3 second dry time smudges under a left hand. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.

Happy with it, but go in informed
Refillable, so the barrel is not disposable. The one thing to know before ordering: 2 to 3 second dry time smudges under a left hand. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.
