Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: IPS Black is a genuine panel improvement rather than a marketing name -- roughly 2000:1 contrast against about 1000:1 for standard IPS, which is visible immediately in dark content. The larger practical point is the single cable: video, 90 W of charging, gigabit Ethernet and every peripheral arrive over one USB-C connection, which replaces a dock. 60 Hz, so it is a work monitor and not a gaming one.

Does the one thing I bought it for
IPS Black roughly doubles contrast against standard IPS. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: 90 W charging, Ethernet and USB hub over a single cable. Been using it now for two months.

Matched my use exactly
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Anyone docking a laptop daily who wants one cable to replace a dock, with colour-accurate output. On that basis it has been the right call. IPS Black roughly doubles contrast against standard IPS.

Wrong product for my situation
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Gamers — 60 Hz with no adaptive sync. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Checked the one cable claim
I compared four of these on paper before ordering, so the line I actually checked was "One cable". The page says Video, 90 W power, Ethernet and all peripherals over a single USB-C cable, and that is what turned up. IPS Black roughly doubles contrast against standard IPS.

Happy with it, but go in informed
IPS Black roughly doubles contrast against standard IPS. The one thing to know before ordering: 60 Hz with no adaptive sync. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.
