Apple does not publish an update commitment, unlike Google and Samsung, so the six to seven years here is inferred from history rather than promised -- worth knowing when comparing against a Pixel's explicit seven.

Good, with one thing to plan for
A17 Pro remains the fastest mobile chip in this catalogue. The one thing to know before ordering: No published software support commitment, unlike Pixel and Samsung. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.

After a few months
Had this about a month now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. USB-C at 10 Gbps on Pro models, so ProRes offloads quickly. Still mildly irritated by one thing: No published software support commitment, unlike Pixel and Samsung. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.

Right product for the right person
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Anyone in the Apple ecosystem wanting the longest practical support and ProRes video capability. On that basis it has been the right call. A17 Pro remains the fastest mobile chip in this catalogue.

Checked the port claim
I compared four of these on paper before ordering, so the line I actually checked was "Port". The page says USB-C, but USB 3 speeds only on Pro models — 10 Gbps, and that is what turned up. A17 Pro remains the fastest mobile chip in this catalogue.

Wrong product for my situation
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Anyone who wants a published update commitment, or fast charging. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

- Why a 20,000 mAh power bank does not give you 20,000 mAhA 20,000 mAh power bank delivers roughly 13,000 mAh to your phone, not 20,000.
