Direct answer: is the AO Smith HAS-X1-025-LHS Storage 25 Litre Horizontal Water Heater (Geyser) Rust-proof outer Body|Compact Size right for you?
Standing loss is the figure nobody publishes and the reason a geyser costs more to run than people expect: leaving it switched on wastes roughly 0.6 kWh a day doing nothing but keeping water hot, which is about Rs1,750 a year for no benefit.

Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: Standing loss is the figure nobody publishes and the reason a geyser costs more to run than people expect: leaving it switched on wastes roughly 0.6 kWh a day doing nothing but keeping water hot, which is about Rs1,750 a year for no benefit. The other unpublished item is the anode rod -- it is a sacrificial consumable, and a tank whose anode has dissolved starts corroding, which is why geysers fail at seven years rather than fifteen.
Who should buy this
Families of three to four needing consistent hot water at 8 bar pressure for a high-rise.
Who should avoid this
Single users needing hot water occasionally -- an instant heater wastes nothing on standing loss.

Frequently asked questions
Is the AO Smith HAS-X1-025-LHS Storage 25 Litre Horizontal Water Heater (Geyser) Rust-proof outer Body|Compact Size worth buying?

Who is the AO Smith HAS-X1-025-LHS Storage 25 Litre Horizontal Water Heater (Geyser) Rust-proof outer Body|Compact Size best suited for?
Families of three to four needing consistent hot water at 8 bar pressure for a high-rise.
Who should avoid the AO Smith HAS-X1-025-LHS Storage 25 Litre Horizontal Water Heater (Geyser) Rust-proof outer Body|Compact Size?
Single users needing hot water occasionally -- an instant heater wastes nothing on standing loss.
What does "LHS" mean, and can I change it?
LHS stands for Left-Hand Side. It means the inlet and outlet water pipes are on the left side of the geyser when you look at it. This configuration is fixed and cannot be changed or flipped to the right side.
Can this be installed inside a false ceiling?
Yes. This horizontal design is purpose-built for low-clearance spaces like false ceilings and lofts. However, you must leave at least 1.5 to 2 feet of clear space on the left side for future servicing and maintenance
Is the wall-mounting bracket included in the box?
Yes, the standard mounting bracket and bolts are included. However, inlet/outlet connection pipes and the electrical plug top are usually sold separately.
How long does it take to heat the water?
With its 2000W heating element, it takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes to heat the full 25 litres from room temperature to its maximum setting.
Will it increase my electricity bill significantly?
It has a 4-star BEE energy rating and thick PUF insulation. This means it retains heat for hours after being switched off, keeping standby power consumption very low.
Does it work in high-rise apartments?
Yes. It is rated for 8 Bar pressure, making it fully safe and compatible with high-pressure water pumps used in multi-story buildings.
Is this geyser suitable for hard water / borewell water?
Yes. This is one of its main selling points. The inner tank is coated with Blue Diamond Glass-lining, and the heating element is glass-coated. Both features prevent scale buildup and corrosion caused by hard water.
Why is water dripping from the small valve on the side?
• This is the Multi-function Safety Valve. A few drops dripping during the heating cycle is completely normal—it relieves excess pressure to keep the tank safe. Continuous heavy leaking, however, indicates high line pressure or a valve fault.

Bought it on the numbers, and the numbers were right
I compared four of these on paper before ordering, so the line I actually checked was "BEE rating year". The page says 2023 rating year, and that is what turned up. 5 star rated, and glass-lined for genuine tank longevity.

Three stars, and here is exactly why
Leading with the problem, because it is what I would have wanted to read: About 0.6 kWh a day of standing loss if left switched on. The magnesium anode is a consumable most owners never replace. Neither is hidden — both are listed on the page — but they matter more in daily use than they look on a spec sheet. I have kept it, for one reason: 5 star rated, and glass-lined for genuine tank longevity. That still outweighs the rest, but only just.

Posting after real use, not unboxing
Had this about a month now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. 8 bar pressure rating suits high-rise plumbing. Still mildly irritated by one thing: About 0.6 kWh a day of standing loss if left switched on. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.

Independent guides that work through the numbers on this kind of product.
- What a geyser actually costs to run per month in IndiaA 25-litre storage geyser costs roughly Rs530 a month for a family of four. Around Rs145 of that is standing loss — energy spent keeping stored water hot while nobody uses it — which is the figure no listing publishes and the one you can eliminate.Covers this department7 min read
