Direct answer: is the Samsung 55-inch Crystal 4K Vivid Ultra HD Smart TV (UA55CUE60AKXXL) right for you?
50 Hz native is the specification behind the motion-rate number on the box, and no amount of interpolation makes a 50 Hz panel behave like 100 Hz -- for football and gaming it is the limiting factor.

Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: 50 Hz native is the specification behind the motion-rate number on the box, and no amount of interpolation makes a 50 Hz panel behave like 100 Hz -- for football and gaming it is the limiting factor. 280 nits sustained is fine in a curtained room and washes out in a bright one. As a well-priced 4K panel for ordinary viewing it is honest value, provided the marketing figures are read for what they are.

Not the product’s fault, but be warned
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Sports viewers, gamers, and anyone with a bright, sunlit living room. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Does the one thing I bought it for
4K resolution at a genuinely low price per inch. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: HDR10+ support and a full smart platform. Nothing has surprised me in three months.

Happy with it, but go in informed
4K resolution at a genuinely low price per inch. The one thing to know before ordering: 50 Hz native panel — the motion rate advertised is interpolation. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.

Bought it on the numbers, and the numbers were right
I compared four of these on paper before ordering, so the line I actually checked was "Connectivity". The page says 3 x HDMI, 2 x USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and that is what turned up. 4K resolution at a genuinely low price per inch.
