Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: What it does not remove is the specification that matters in India. A 0.2 micron membrane stops bacteria and parasites, which covers most travel risk, but viruses are smaller than the pore size and pass straight through, and dissolved contamination -- heavy metals, arsenic, fluoride, salinity -- is not a filtration problem at all. For a stream on a trek this is excellent. For groundwater of unknown quality it is not the right tool.
Who should buy this
Trekkers and travellers drawing from streams or taps of uncertain bacterial quality.
Who should avoid this
Anyone treating groundwater for heavy metals, arsenic or salinity -- filtration does not address any of those.
Key strengths

No notes
0.2 micron membrane rated for around 1000 litres before replacement. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: Carbon capsule genuinely improves the taste of chlorinated supply. Nothing has surprised me in a full season.

Four stars, and here is the fifth — Does not remove viruses
0.2 micron membrane rated for around 1000 litres before replacement. The one thing to know before ordering: Does not remove viruses, which pass through a 0.2 micron pore. To be fair that is written on the product page. I skimmed past it and had to rearrange things afterwards.

Wrong product for my situation
Genuinely my own fault. Posting so somebody else does not repeat it. The listing says who should avoid this: Anyone treating groundwater for heavy metals, arsenic or salinity — filtration does not address any of those. That was my situation and I ordered anyway. It does what it says on the page — it just was not the thing I needed.

Matched my use exactly
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Trekkers and travellers drawing from streams or taps of uncertain bacterial quality. On that basis it has been the right call. 0.2 micron membrane rated for around 1000 litres before replacement.
