Editorial verdict
Grounded in published specifications
Summary verdict: The bite valve is the reason to buy it and the reason most people end up disappointed: it is genuinely spill-proof in a bag, and it grows mould inside if it is not dismantled and cleaned weekly. That is maintenance rather than a defect, but nothing in the packaging says so. Retention figures assume moderate ambient and infrequent opening -- in a 40 degree Indian summer expect roughly half.

Three stars, and here is exactly why
Leading with the problem, because it is what I would have wanted to read: The valve grows mould unless dismantled and cleaned weekly. Flow is slower than an open-mouth bottle by design. Neither is hidden — both are listed on the page — but they matter more in daily use than they look on a spec sheet. I have kept it, for one reason: Bite valve is genuinely spill-proof in a bag. That still outweighs the rest, but only just.

Read the fit note, and it was me
The page describes who this is for, and it described me: Anyone who wants a genuinely spill-proof bottle and will dismantle the valve weekly. On that basis it has been the right call. Bite valve is genuinely spill-proof in a bag.

Listing was accurate, which is rarer than it should be
Bite valve is genuinely spill-proof in a bag. That was the whole reason I picked this over the cheaper options, and it is exactly as described. Also worth mentioning: Double wall vacuum, so no condensation and no sweating. Nothing has surprised me in six weeks.

Posting after real use, not unboxing
Had this a couple of weeks now, so this is not an unboxing opinion. Double wall vacuum, so no condensation and no sweating. Still mildly irritated by one thing: The valve grows mould unless dismantled and cleaned weekly. Known trade-off rather than a fault, though, and I would buy it again.
